Act Two - Scene 9

The boys finally returned home and got to see their family and loved ones, but for Henry he has to decide whether he wants Alice or Della. It's unfair that he has to do this so early but it had to be done . I like the ending when each person ends Henry's life with a different point of view. The best quote was "Henry Reyna..El Pachucho..The man..the myth..still lives." (page 94) This is the best quote because it depicts everything Henry was throughout the entire play.

Is Henry also a hero?

Act Two - Scene 8

I like this scene because the boys were set free and cleared of the charges. My favorite quote was "we won ! we won the appeal!" Lupe said this to all the families and all his friends who had been imprisoned. This was the best part of the entire play because they gained their freedom .

Do you think the whole case was a waste of time ?

Act Two - Scene Seven

I liked this Scene because Henry and Alice were able to talk one on one. It was already obvious that they had feelings for each other , and in this scene, those feelings tend to come out more than once. The quote I chose was " If I thought making love to you would solve all your problems , I'd do it in a second. " (page 84) I chose this quote because Alice basically just told Henry that she has feelings for him and if she could persue a relationship with him then she would. Alice told this to Henry when she went to go visit Henry in jail .

Should Alice and Henry persue a relationship with one another ?

Act Two - Scene 6

I was the least fond of this scene because it was all negative and didn't really catch my attention . The Zoot Suit Riots weren't interesting to me , at least in this particular scene. The Pachuchos and the Sailors dislike caused fights and other problems. This scene was just a scene that elaborated on how they act towards each other. The most interesting quote to me was " You are trying to outdo the white man in exaggerated white man's clothes!'' (page 80) The Press relayed this to Pachucho during their discussion about what Zoot Suit really meant toward Mexicans and how the media had altered the meaning of "Zoot Suit". This quote is important because it conveys a message that the Mexicans are getting into trouble simply because they are dressing flashy and "outdoing the white mans style of dressing" .

Should the Zoot Suiters simply stop wearing the suit since they know the brutality they will and can endure by wearing the suit ?

Act Two - Scene 5

I didn't really like Scene 5 because it made me feel bad for Henry. Pachucho is saying everything negative to Henry and it seems as though he wants Henry to give up the fight. The part that I liked the most was when Henry talks about missing his family and everyone. The quote I chose was " I miss them , ese...my jefitos, my carnalillo, my sis..I miss Della." (page 77) Henry says this to Pachucho when Pachucho tells Henry that he's in jail for protecting his family and his brother. I think this quote is important because it changes my view on Henry. At first he was like a hard core "thug" and it seemed as though he had no feelings , but now I see him as a regular person who does have emotions. It develops Henry's character into less of a Zoot Suiter and more of a normal boy who just so happened to get caught up in a negative situation.

Do you think that Henry is becoming his own person and no longer needs Pachucho ?
